What is ECO4?
ECO4 is the fourth phase of the Government’s Energy Company Obligation. Originally started in August 2022, the ECO4 scheme will run until 31st March 2026.
The ECO4 Scheme aims to provide free energy-saving measures for vulnerable households, so they can improve the energy efficiency and heating of their home.
If you and your home are eligible for funding, you can take advantage of getting solar panels and heat pump systems.

New £7,500 Grant for Heat Pumps
As part of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, heat pump grants will be increasing from £5,000 to £7,500 from Monday 23rd October 2023.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme allows homeowners to take full advantage of government grants for a new heat pump system.

You should have an EPC rating with the documents you received when you moved into your home.
If you are renting, you can request this from your agent or landlord.
If you own your home, you may need to get a new EPC rating. Find out more on gov.uk/find-energy-certificate.
Your home or property needs to have an EPC rating of E or lower.
The highest EPC rating is A, and goes down alphabetically to G, the lowest rating.
If you are eligible for ECO4, payments are made directly to the installer based on the work completed for your home.
Yes – depending on your eligibility you could be entitled to:
- Internal Wall Insulation (IWI)
- External Wall Insulation (EWI)
- Loft Insulation
- Cavity Wall Insulation
- Room in Roof Insulation
