Why choose Ipsum Renewables for your Air Source Heat Pump Installation
As a Chartered Aerosystems Engineer of some years standing, I know a little about Quality and Craftsmanship!!
This company recently installed 31 solar panels, 16Kw battery storage, 19 radiator changes and a 16Kw ASHP - all at the same time!! I can only describe their standard of workmanship, care, cleanliness, attitude and work ethic as outstanding. Not only are we delighted with what they have done for us, we are simply overjoyed!! Their pride of workmanship is plain to see and both systems are working beautifully and fully integrated. The commissioning and handover was absolutely first class. I cannot recommend them highly enough, and I don’t say that lightly. Thank you Ipsum, absolutely top notch!!
From initial quote through to finished installation the staff at ipsum were first class.
After gaining quotes from several places we decided to go with ipsum due to their reviews, being a local company and the general way they conducted themselves.
Installation took a few days and all staff were polite and professional.
All mess was cleared away when finished and everything was explained operation wise.
When we noticed a slight leak from one of the new radiators they had fitted one of their staff came and sorted it the same day!
All in all I would thoroughly recommend their services.
Many thanks to all at Ipsum!!
Ipsum have just installed an Air Source Heat Pump at our home: the whole job, including replacing all radiators and re-piping (to replace microbore) took just 3 and a half days! The four man team did an outstanding job, extremely professional and nothing too much trouble (e.g. replumbing washing machine and redirecting shower drain, etc.). We previously had solar panels and battery storage installed by Ipsum, again to 5* standard, which gave us no hesitation in getting them back for the ASHP. A top quality business: highly recommended.
From start to finish Ipsum were excellent. They listened to our requirements and modified the proposal several times to match the systems to our house. We chose to have a heat pump with solar panels and a battery and new radiators throughout. Ipsum identified routes for the pipework and cables to minimise the disruption to the house, avoiding external ducts and cables. All the workmen were Ipsum employees; they were friendly, helpful, courteous and thoroughly professional. We are very pleased with the system they have installed and the overall quality of the workmanship. We cannot recommend Ipsum too highly and would use them again without reservation.
I recently had an amazing Valiant ASHP installation from Ipsum. Their team are some of the loveliest people you could meet and they’re really helpful.
I received around 12 quotes in total and while Ipsum wasn’t the cheapest (but very reasonable), they gave me the vibe that they knew what they were doing. This was proven at the design stage (and even more once they came to install the system).
The install was done to a high level of quality (see images). The team managed to install the ASHP, the cylinder, replace 4 radiators and install two new ones, in 3 days! The attention to detail was incredible.
There were some hiccups (such a fault Vaillant sensor), but the aftercare was spot on. I think this is the most important as some companies would take the BUS grant and not help, so I really appreciated the aftercare.
I’ll be getting my ASHP serviced by Ipsum going forward and when I decide to install solar panels, they’ll be my go to!

Bespoke Air Source Heat Pump solutions for every property
From family homes to large commercial buildings, air source heat pumps provide a reliable, low-carbon alternative to traditional heating systems.
Designed to deliver outstanding efficiency, this proven renewable technology supplies consistent, sustainable heating and hot water all year round.
Domestic Properties
Air Source Heat Pumps are quiet, reliable, and designed to work seamlessly with your home, they offer a comfortable, consistent warmth that traditional systems struggle to match.
Commercial Properties
Ideal for offices, retail spaces, hospitality venues, and industrial buildings, with expert design and installation, air source heat pumps provide consistent temperature control and long-term durability.
Low Installation Costs
The available Government grant (BUS) makes installing a heat pump very cost effective.
This support significantly reduces the initial investment required, often bringing the price in line with – or even below – that of replacing a traditional fossil-fuel boiler. With installations also qualifying for zero-rated VAT, homeowners benefit from even greater savings.
Energy Efficiency
Air source heat pumps achieve impressive efficiency by extracting heat from the air to deliver both heating and hot water. Strong performance ratings mean they produce more usable heat than the electricity they consume. This leads to lower energy use overall, helping homeowners cut running costs and enjoy meaningful savings on their monthly bills.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides government funding of £7500 to help homeowners switch to low-carbon heating. Eligible properties can receive the grants towards the installation of air-source heat pumps making the transition more affordable than ever.
At Ipsum Renewables, we handle the entire process on your behalf – from eligibility checks and grant applications to installation and aftercare – ensuring a smooth, stress-free experience from start to finish.
We're Proud Installation Partners With
Dedicated To Heat Pump Excellence
Ipsum Renewables have installed heat pumps in all kinds of properties – from modern new builds to large, listed homes. Our experience means we can provide clear, informed design guidance and accurate cost information right from the initial consultation.
This early insight is important, as not every property is suitable for a heat pump, whether due to installation costs or heat loss from poor insulation.
Once we confirm that your property is a good fit, we’ll move on to detailed system design and a full quotation.

An ASHP works by extracting heat from the outside air using a fan and transferring it indoors through a refrigeration process. The heat is then distributed within the building for space heating and water heating.
There are many variables in the cost for a complete installation of an ASHP, however, with the current £7500 grant towards the cost of an install, it is common for average installations to cost anywhere between £2000 and £5000, depending on the work required, size of the property, number of radiator and pipework changes and any other work that may need to be completed as part of the installation process.
Yes, ASHPs are designed to work efficiently in the UK climate, including colder temperatures. They can extract heat from the air even when the outside temperature drops below freezing. However, it’s important to consider the specific requirements of your property and consult with a professional to assess suitability.
The savings with an ASHP will depend on factors such as your current heating system, energy consumption, insulation, and fuel prices. In general, ASHPs are more energy-efficient than traditional fossil fuel-based heating systems, resulting in reduced energy bills and long-term cost savings.
ASHPs do produce some noise, but modern models are designed to minimise noise levels. The outdoor unit, where the fan is located, may produce a low level of noise during operation. However, the systems are quiet-marked, and the noise can be further reduced by selecting a suitable location and installing acoustic barriers if necessary.
Yes, the UK government offers financial incentives to encourage the adoption of renewable heating technologies, including ASHPs. The most prominent scheme is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS). This is a scheme that grants a £7,500 voucher towards the cost of your installation. However, it’s important to check the latest updates and eligibility criteria for these incentives.
In most cases, installing an ASHP in a domestic property does not require planning permission. However, there may be restrictions if your property is listed or located in a conservation area. It’s advisable to consult with your local planning authority or seek advice from a professional installer.
No, you do not necessarily need underfloor heating for an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) to work. ASHPs can be compatible with various types of heating systems including underfloor heating, radiator systems, and existing pipework. Your radiators may need to be upgraded to accommodate the lower temperature output of an ASHP, but this will be assessed prior to your installation.
It’s worth noting that underfloor heating systems generally provide a more uniform and comfortable heat distribution, reduce air movement, and can potentially increase energy efficiency. Nevertheless, the choice between underfloor heating and radiators will depend on factors such as personal preference, budget, existing infrastructure, and the specific requirements of your property.
