How Do
Heat Pumps Work?
Air source heat pumps are typically installed outside, often at the side or rear of a building. They capture heat from the outside air and use a compressor to amplify this heat before delivering it into your home.
The most common of these systems are air-to-water units, these transfer heat by circulating liquid through pipes to radiators or underfloor heating systems, also providing hot water in addition to heating.
Before installing an air source heat pump, it’s important to ensure your property is well-insulated to minimise heat loss through walls, floors, and the roof. Without proper insulation, the heat pump will have to work harder to maintain the desired temperature, reducing its efficiency
